Holiday Foods

The holidays have come and gone and I cooked plenty of food. It seems I had no time to blog during all the craziness but I did manage to take pictures of a few of the favorites.

Here you will see fresh pasta made with my new cusinart, a gift from my man.

I had a request for a simple veggie platter with hummus and dill yogurt dips at a party we attended.

For New Years we invited to a gathering and I was in charge of apps. So I brought a yummy horseradish cheese dip with whole grain crackers, Asian beef cups (they were a hit), and chicken bits with a wonderful peanut curry dipping sauce.
I also tried a new lemon fairy cake with lavender and lemon glaze. These were a treat for some friends that came by.
What a great holiday we had and I hope you did also!

A Party in Helle!

My very good friend Danielle through a customer appreciation bash to introduce her new partners in crime; AKA ~ Amy and myself… We are putting together some great ideas for “Helle on Wheels”. You can now, not only get facials and waxing but reflexology, message and catering for your next girl’s night out. Rent Helle (In Georgetown) for the evening or we can come to your home and convert your living room into a sanctuary.

Last night we had a fabulous gathering of friends and yummy foods including White Bean and Sage Crostini, Carrot and Yam Latkes, Ricotta & Sage Crepe Bites, Camelized Onion Tartlets and Chocolate Truffle Cakes. The food was great and everyone had a blast!

Call Helle Salon 206-767-0803 for some well deserved down time this holiday season. And don’t forget to call Angel Cake Delights for your next catered event! Happy Holidays!

Renee's Fund Raising Party

What a whirl wind weekend this was! It is amazing how you can look around you and there are good people who need your help. This weekend I paired up with some excellent people to help out a beautiful 19 years old girl with brain cancer. With the help of many local artists and giving people, we raised a lot of money to help her with medical expenses and had a wonderful event! It was great seeing how people pitch in to help their fellow men and women.

The event was held in the Maritime Center in Port Townsend. We served approximately 200 people run through our buffet of heavy appetizers. We had Chicken & Pork Sate, BBQ Pork with a Moy Ploy sauce, Hand Rolled Sushi Bar, Quiche Lorraine, Spring Rolls with peanut sauce, Smoked Salmon Spread, Brie in Puff Pastry and an amazing assortment of petite pastries supplied by Belle Pasty in Bellevue.

The food was amazing and with a live band and lots of people together for a good cause. We had another successful night! Go Renee…. We’re all rooting for you!

A Little Chocolate with Lots of Love

My son has been sick for the last four days and was really bored. He asked for his favorite Eclairs! So what does a good mom do? Get's in the kitchen and starts baking!

We got started with homebaked eclairs filled with vanilla pastry cream and topped with chocolate genache.

Another favorite are my take on Milano cookies. I flavor the chocolate inside these cookies with various essentail oils. This time we used peppermint oil, last time we used blood orange oil, both times they were and are so yummy!

If you want some Eclairs or Milanos alla Cristina call me! I can hook you up!

Children's Cooking Lessons

Friday I had one of my favorite little girls over for a cooking lesson. She had so much fun I have decided to start a little campaign to let you know I do cooking lessons in your home or mine. My girlfriend suggested that I start doing kids cooking lesson parties.

Having kids over to learn basic skills in the kitchen is a great way to entertain a group of children for a birthday party or just a social event.

On friday we started with a simple chocolate cake with a genache icing and fresh raspberries. Anna had a wonderful time decorating it.

We did a Ceasar salad with homemade croutons and a baked ziti. It was so fun and  Mom and Dad came to enjoy the treat thier daughter made. She was so proud to show off what she's learned.

Call me if you are intrested in a cooking lesson or having a cooking party!
