Dinner for Three

Good Rainy Saturday! Time to nest and fill the kitchen with the smells of a home cooked meal. Today my boys went hunting and I stayed home to play in the kitchen and I came up with some new recipes to share with you.

I started with  biscotti. They are filled with crushed fennel and golden rasins and have a wonderful aroma. They are crisp but tender and yummy with a little sweetness to them!

Then we'll be having Baked Potato Soup with bacon, sourcream and sharp cheese. It's thick and has a great texture. This will be served with a carmelized onion tart topped with blue cheese and an avocado, cucumber, goat cheese salad. The tart has an intense deep flavor of sweet onions and the saltiness from the cheese.

To end our meal this evening we'll be having a classic apple tart! I'm serving it with a whisky whipped cream.

Wish you were here to try it all but you can find all these items on my menu for you to order. Have a wonderful night, I know I will!

Cookies and Things

Yesterday was a busy day for Angel Cake Delights, as I continue to try new recipes and cost them out to put them on my menu. I have come up with a few cookies as Helle Salon has asked for healthy treats to provide to her clients. With this I have been coming up with recipes that have heathy properties in them. And I will be incorporating essential oils from Rivendell Aromatics for healing properties soon.

I started with chocolate dipped strawberries. Strawberries are great to ward off infection and keep your heart healthy. They are known to have anticancer, antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties also. And add dark chocolate (70% cacao) which also have antioxidants and "feel-good" properties. So eat up! They will be sold by the dozen, seasonal only.

Then I moved to a Banana Oatmeal cookie. They are not very pretty but are very tasty. They contain bananas which promote sleep and are a natural antibiotic. Honey, which is good for the liver. Sunflowers seeds, that contain pectin to help remove toxins & heavey metals. Rolled oats, dates and orange which are all fabulous for you. They are a light soft texture and have mega flavor. These are a great energizing treat.

Honey Granola Bars that also have a soft light texture and are healthy. With honey, sunflower seeds, rasins, granola, cinnamon and wheat germ they are filled with lots of vitamins such as folate, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, iron & magnesuim.

Then I did an Orange Carrot Cookies that are filled with orange, fresh shredded carrots, coconut and walnuts. Walnuts are known to strengthen the kidneys and liver. Carrots are a superb detoxifier and help kill bacteria and viruses and coconut regulates thyroid function. These are a little crisper with an orange glaze to add more sweetness.

I completed my crazy day with a nice fresh farm cheese. I made this with local whole milk and fresh picked herbs from my garden. It is amazing and would be a great item for a brunch or cocktail party. It's beautiful and SO good. And by the way... it's not healthy in anyway. Well maybe if you say it has calcuim...

So that's it for today! I hope to get back into the kitchen early next week for more delights from my kichen...

Cakes and Breads

This weekend I was in a baking mood so I tried some yummy recipes I will add to the Angel Cake Delights Menu...

I started with a Triple Chocolate Rum Cake that was so moist and incredible I wanted to share it with everyone. The picture doesn't do it justice. I served it with a rum whipcream and fresh rasberries. It will be sold for $29.95. Available in a gluten free version and comes with a rum whip cream topping. (Not Shown)

Then I made lemon blueberry cake decorated with a lemon cream cheese frosting! I actually made it in cupcake version but plan to sell it in a bundtcake style. Great for brunch! It was very moist and had a distinctive lemon essence. Not to sweet. I may add a little lavender next time to make it extra special. Sorry I have no picture for you. I packed them off to John in Penn.

014.JPG">Also I made a baba rum cake with caramelized apples. It was very rummy, so changes will be made before I have a finally recipe, but it will come... Just not perfect yet.

And finally, I just pulled out of the oven a Caramelized Onion Cheesy Pull Apart Bread! It is a wonderful addition to a nice warm fall soup, such as Potato Leek. It's filled with caramelized onions, Gruyere cheese and poppy seeds. Great for a gathering of your friends. I'd give you a picture but Joey is sitting here munching on it now and has already ruined it. LOL He says it's so yummy.

I love this fall weather when you can fill your kitchen with the scents of warm tasty treats. Enjoy the fall days! Call me if you need something special for a gathering over the holidays. I can help fill your kitchen with yummy smells and tasty food too! (425) 306-3073

Getting Started

I'm finally doing this! It's been a very long time coming but Angel Cake Delights will start production on yummy treats next week. I have made a small selection list so far and am trying to price things according to industry.

The treats will range from sweet treats, such as cakes, cookies and elegant delights, to savory fare such as platters of antipasti to casseroles. You can order for delivery with as little as a 48 hour notice.

Next week I will be putting together sample platters to photograph for this blog so people can see what will be available. And yes, if you stop by the house I will let you sample too :)

Looking forward to warming tummy's all over The Greater Seattle Area...
